Tagaytay Venue Hunting

Church Booked! Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega

When I was younger, I love going to weddings with my mom. There was a time that I attended a Church wedding. The church is so big and beautiful. The only problem that I’ve noticed was there are few guests who attended the wedding. I told myself that when I get married I want the Church to be filled with all the people who are close to me. I wanted a small church rather than a big church with empty chairs.
When I was browsing the internet, I saw this Church in Nasugbu. I’m kinda hesitant to consider this church since it looks big in the picture.
It was a coincidence that my father invited us to attend a mass in the same Church.  I’m curious of the beauty of that Church so I said I’ll go with them. We left Manila  8AM; we reached Tagaytay at around 10AM, just in time for the 11AM mass. The Church is located in Batangas, boundary of Tagaytay and Nasugbu. We had a bumpy ride because the road going there is a rough road. The travel is so long but when we saw the Church, it’s totally worth it. Right then and there we felt the “THIS IS IT” feeling.
Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega

There is an entrance fee Php 30 if you will go there for a visit. But its free if there is a mass. This gate will be open for free around 10:30AM

The church is perfect! Its picturesque. Its small, I can hold an intimate wedding. I’m the kind of “bride-to-be” that doesn’t to want to walk in a long aisle.  I don’t need to bring a lot of decoration since the Church itself is beautiful. It looks fresh because of the flowers around the Church. By the way, There are a lot of things you can do in the vicinity. Rest assured that your guests will not get bored while waiting for you.
We wanted our wedding to be on December, though we don’t have a definite date. I also thought that I can only book the date a year before the wedding.
After a couple of months, I read in Femalenetwork that they were able to book Caleruega. They also informed me that December 2013 is almost booked. Wow, that’s how in demand Caleruega is. So I talked to The BF and asked him if he wants to get wed in Tagaytay. He said that he is 100% sure that he really wants it.
Caleruega can accommodate 3 weddings in a day:
Mondays to Saturdays: 9-11AM; 3-5PM; 6-8PM
Sundays : 8-10AM; 3-5PM; 6-8PM
As much as possible we wanted to celebrate our wedding on week-ends. I sent an email to Caleruega and they quickly answered. They told me that the available time for all the Saturdays are 6pm. The BF told me that it’s okay but I imagined that we will not be able to capture the beauty of Tagaytay at 6PM. I also considered my guests who will be coming from Manila . If the reception will start at 8PM, most probably the program will end at midnight. It will be hard for them to go home. The only available slot for 3PM is weekdays. I was so disappointed and I almost considered the 6PM slot. I sent an email again and asked what the available slots are for 3PM. They gave me the dates. I checked the calendar; December 30, 2013, Monday is still vacant. It will be a long week-end since Monday is a holiday and a day after is New Year. It’s also a bonus that it’s my father’s birthday. I asked The BF if he is okay with it, and he said yes.
We went to Caleruega. They gave us a form. We have to pay Php 5,000 so they can reserve the date for us. A month before the wedding we have to pay the remaining balance which is Php 10,000.
There are available reception venues as well:

Why Blog Now?

I’ve been thinking of creating a blog site ever since I started travelling. I just don’t know where to start.

So, why blog now?

1.) I’m forgetful. I want to remember all the things that happened to me. Someday I will surely look back to this site.

2.) I travel a lot, many of my friends ask for the itinerary of the places that I’ve been to. I often tend to lose these things. It’s hard for me to dig into my email to look for it.

3.) I’m trying to be organized. (Again, trying…)

4.) I’m not good with grammar, describing things, and I’m a very vague person. So this might help. ( Hope so…)

5.) I always talk to myself. There’s a lot of things going in my mind and I’m having difficulty to express it to people so instead of “thinking it loud”, I will just write it down. This will serve as my personal diary.

That’s it for now.

See, I am really a vague person!
